Merit is a music house in Nashville, Tennessee.
We write original score and sound design for advertising, film, television, and documentary. Every note that leaves this studio was written by a person.
Merit was founded by composer Stephen Keech. He spent ten years touring the world, fronting Haste the Day and playing bass in As Cities Burn, before trading the stage for the studio. Since then his music has carried campaigns for Mazda, Marvel, Tractor Supply, Bad Boy Mowers, and Merrick, and has been heard in Grey's Anatomy, Anyone But You, and Jesus Revolution. Variety singled out his score for The Ballad of Davy Crockett.
Here is what that means for your film. Anyone can make music that sounds good. We're after the moments that sound alive: the rule broken on purpose, the note that leans wrong and lands true. Written to your picture, cleared in one conversation. Your story hasn't happened before. The score shouldn't sound like it has.
